“View From Above” Exhibit

Sep 1, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Visit jm-ART Gallery and Studio on First Friday, September 1st from 5-9pm for the “View From Above” Exhibit.

Satellite images or photos from airplanes are the references for the paintings in this exhibit. I have always wanted a window seat when flying, so I could take photos. Even the dirty windows and my pitiful camera did not deter me from trying to get an amazing shot! I have loved it since NASA started showing the Earth from above in stunningly clear photographs from a way-higher perspective than I’d ever have. There is lots to think about after seeing the earth with no borders, no indication of mankind.

These paintings border on abstracts but hopefully have enough ‘nature’ to relate to for most people. This was also an exhibit that I wanted to experiment with, trying textures and methods that I’ve not used before. However several are knife paintings, that I’ve always loved doing. Personally I think they make perfect representations of the Earth from Above.

The other news is that I have now added a Studio workspace for myself within my gallery, to actually have work in progress there for people to see. I believe people like to see how a painting comes together and this time I am doing a portrait. I will also have various other works on exhibit in my Studio workspace, including some new prints of previous paintings.

Exhibition dates: 7/7-9/14

Check jm-ART.com for other days and hours that I will be open to the public.
