Laurence E. Keefe is known for his vivid, strongly realistic watercolors. His subject matter is primarily landscape and sailing paintings set in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region and the Rochester urban area. “Strong paintings result from a trained eye and an intense gaze,” states Keefe.

For 10 years, Keefe has been teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced watercolor painting at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery Creative Workshop.

A lifelong resident of Victor, NY, Keefe received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Catholic University in 1968, and a Master of Arts with a minor in European History from Ohio University in 1971. He enjoyed a 30-year career in international marketing of industrial automation software.

Keefe is a founding member of Pittsford Fine Art and Finger Lakes Watercolor Painters. He studied with painters such as Jeanne Lindsey, Brian O’Neill, Dick Kane and other respected artists. He also co-authored Life of a Photograph with Dennis Inch, the seminal authority on conservation of works of art on paper for collectors, galleries and museums.
