Pittsford Fine Arts March Featured Artist, Maureen Church!
Pittsford Fine Art
4 N Main St.
Mar 3, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Local painter Maureen Church is the featured artist at Pittsford Fine Art gallery for the month of March. Her use of oils and encaustic wax beautifully depicts local landscapes and may include your favorite views of a Finger Lake, a local park or the Erie Canal.

Growing up in an artist’s household in Rochester, she was inspired and encouraged to paint by her mother, a fashion illustrator. After earning a BFA at Alfred University, and a Masters in Art Education at Nazareth College, she enjoyed a three-decade career teaching art until she retired in 2017. Church then became a full-time painter and moved her studio to The Hungerford Building in downtown Rochester. She is a signature artist with the Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters, and an active member of “Working with Wax,” a group of encaustic painters in Rochester. She traveled to the Burren College of Art in Ireland to further explore encaustic painting. Her works in both mediums have been juried into art publications, online and in-person galleries locally, nationally and internationally.

“Joining the Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters changed my painting forever,” states Maureen. “The sheer spontaneity of quickly painting outdoors keeps my paintings fresh and my colors pure.”

Stop by the gallery to meet Maureen and view her work on Friday, March 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.
