In Northland, Wiklund uses the camera as an instrument of memorialization. He chooses which precise moments to immortalize, rescuing them from the endless rotation of visual minutia. His images are of subject matter which is often overlooked. A melted trash tote amidst sunburnt grass and hazy foliage, stands stoically, almost proud. An empty billboard, blocking the view of beautiful, rolling hills of Sweden. Curious sheep among rocks, staring at the viewer, you, the voyeur. With extreme precision, Northland invites the viewer to contemplate the wonder in the mundane. The value in clicking the shutter at the exact, perfect moment. And to see what Nils Wiklund has deemed important to enshrine. Northland runs February 7th through 29th with an opening reception February 7th at 6pm.
