‘Connecting Bridges’ by Artist Maia Nero
Nu Movement

May 5, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
My paintings are united with bold color, expression, and interpretation of urban lifestyle. Having lived most of my adult life in NYC, the bridges, skyscrapers and tunnels left their imprints on my artistic style, which is predominantly abstract expressionist landscapes. True to the Impressionistic form, I enjoy using negative and positive space, incorporating the use of various angles. Using both nature and urban scapes, I develop layers upon layers of paint to form textural movement, at times using a pallet knife and my fingertips to blend additional mediums. I dance with enthusiasm while painting.
My travels to Europe, South America, Asia, and across the U.S have influenced and ignited a spontaneous interaction on my large canvases. For me, to produce a straight edge with a curve is a symbolic connection between bridges bringing me home.
