Pittsford Gallery’s November Featured Artist: Kathleen Bolin
Pittsford Fine Art
4 N Main St.
Nov 4, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Pittsford artist Kathleen Bolin paints portraits as well as landscapes, but they have one common thread: She sees her work as a love story for the region she has lived in for most of her life.
That love story will be featured throughout November at Pittsford Fine Art, the artists-run galley where Bolin is one of the 13 principal artists – and is the featured artist for the month. Bolin will be present in the gallery during its First Friday event on Nov. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Bolin has a degree in art education from Nazareth College and she taught art in elementary and middle schools in Camden, NY. Her own education as an artist gained momentum in the many classes she has taken over the last 20 years from such accomplished artists as John Peisley, Tom Insalaco, Steve Carpenter, and Chris Kolupski. Bolin’s personal accomplishments include the prestigious Best In Show award for her work in the Rochester Art Club’s signature member show. She is also a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York City and Greater Rochester Plein Air Painters.
“I work mainly from life and paint plein air to capture my own emotional response, whether the subject is a person or the place where I’m painting,” she said. “I try to portray the vulnerabilities, strengths and emotions of the portrayed.”
Pittsford Fine Art is open Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 5 p.m.; Friday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is available in front of the gallery at 4 North Main Street, or at the nearby public parking lot. (photo “Brockport Yacht Club”)
